Last night I had this dream. I was hanging out with my friends, Allan, Bev, and Mario. We were at Mario's parents house, and his parents were there. It was like a drinking party in the dream. All of us are over 23 year old BTW. Ok so I have a G/F, who is a Asian girl in real-life. We all live in upstate, NY. She is going to school at a local community college for Culinary Arts, and this summer is going to Las Vegas, NV for school in baking/pastry. Ok, so back to the dream. Everyone except for my G/F is there. Instead of her, I meet a new little blond girl, and we hit it off. In the dream it is the day after my real Asian girl leaves NY for Vegas. She wont be back for a min of one full year, if at all. Also, my GF now and I agree we are on a break and can see new people while she is away for the year, which is what we agree on in real life. So anyway, me and this new girl meet at the party, and make love all night. We were drinking, so we spend the night in the guest room.

I recently visited my sister in Atlanta GA, and Ive had an interest in a career in culinary for a while. So while I was down there I took interest and a tour of the Art Institute for Culinary and a Le Cordon Bleu location. I have to say I prefer Le Cordon Bleu since they are 100% devoted to just culinary arts; but word of mouth tells me that the CIA is the best, yet, most expensive school? I wish to become a master chef and one day chef/owner of my own restaurant and I'm looking for the best and most rewarding degree. I'm currently living in Rochester NY, which is upstate NY so either way I'd have to move to go to school but I'm trying to make the best choice here before I make such a big decision to move and whatnot. Any suggestions, my advice so far was to ask people in the field.

The New England Culinary Institute is the best by far. It is in Montpelier,Vt and is great. They can be a bit expensive but well worth it. Check them out if you haven't already. http://www.neci.edu/

My best friend and I, I mean!

My best friend and I (we'll call her Shelby for security reasons ) have known each other literally since 7th Grade (about 6 years), and we have been through Hell and back, and we're still friends to this day! This year is our Senior year in high school, and we both attend different high schools, and we both live in Florida.

Shelby and I were planning on going to a college/institute somewhere up North (preferably in the Northeast; NY, NJ, MD, PA, etc) where we both could attend either the same college, or some colleges nearby each other.

Shelby wants to go into Culinary Arts and become a chef and I am still trying to decide what I want to do, but I'm leaning towards Art right now. If not Art, then definitely Massage Therapy.

I was just wondering if anyone knew any colleges in the same general vicinity we could go to, or the same college, so we can still be close in college.

well, my best friend and I are going to Brown College in Mendota Heights MN. (granted its not near NY- but its right by Mall of america!) They have a bunch of colleges nearby, culinary arts (LCB), Brown college, arogsy univirsity, the U of M, Rasmussen, Minnesota school of buisness and globe college, all within like 15 minutes of eachother!!!

What is one of the best culinary schools in your opinion? I am looking for one preferbaly in NY.

2.Johnson and Wales
3. French Culinary Institute
4. New England Culinary Academy

If your strap for cash Paul Smith College in Upstate has a good program as well.

Culinary Arts school?

I'm planning on attending culinary arts school, but I want to know if in order to go there, would I have to take math, and history? Some schools are like this…is it like this for culinary school? It's cooking school, so I didn't think so.

I would be going to the traditional culinary arts school, located in upstate NY.

Also, would I have to have a launguage credit to go there? And, if I do, but don't have one…I know I would have to take it there. What launguages do they offer?

I was thinking of moving to Arizona, I want to go to the culinary school of Scottsdale, Does anyone know how the school is? How is it in Arizona is it really hot? (dry heat or humid)? Is there a lot of crime? are there a lot of jobs? because I'm from NY and I've never been over to the west side.

lived here for 15+ years now.

definite dry heat in the summer but there are plenty of public pools, nearby lakes and a drive up north to cooler temps is only about 2 hours.

the school i've heard is a good one (i work in healthcare so don't know first hand) and scottsdale is a nice area. you can find a decent apartment for a good price.

phoenix is crime-ridden but what big city isn't? just avoid living near downtown and you'll be fine.

there are a ton of jobs out here just b/c we're like the 5th largest city in the nation!! so you'll have no trouble finding a job.

our public transportation system isnt too bad (could be better i've heard) and traffic can be unbearable if you'll be driving your own car.

overall i think it's a good move-the summers are rough until you get used to them but the rest of the year is awesome weather wise

me and my fiance are currently living in marietta, ok (for the layman, it's bfe); we are really wanting to move to new hyde park, ny because my fiance wants to attend culinary school. what i really want to know is are there any websites that will realistically compare costs of living. also is there any websites that can tell you what you will make there doing average jobs like working at a bank or in retail. also anywhere that we can find real prices and ratings for apatments and rent houses in that area? we are really serious about this; becoming a chef has been a dream of my fiance's since he was a child. speaking of a child, we also have a son that thows into the cost equation there. can anyone help?

Ok i have been living in a snall town for 5 years, the town is very mennonite and they try to turn you into their values and live just like them and be the same, I am orginially from winnipeg,MB. Ny dad lives their in winnipeg, I have a job where my boss is a bitc$h, everyone of my good friends my parents won't let me hang out with, my parents a very strict and they won't let me go to any parties or nothing, I have liked the same girl for 3 years and I am to shy to tell her how I feel and she is finallysingle but my parentare trying to sell my house, and I am off to a culinary school next year and I return to my original school in grade 12. By the way I am 16 and in grade 10 and I got a license with a car. My life is in a dead end please help to move forward and hopefully get my life back and happy. thanx sorry for the whole long story but I really need someones help not a therapists so don't give the idea. Please help me out no immature ideas thanx.

First of all take a deep breath because you type like you can't breathe, second about the girl ask her out enjoy the time that you have and don't worry so much about the future (ur too young for that), next talk to ur parents and let them know that ur unhappy c what happens next, then At 16 u should be enjoying life… the only person that can make u move forward is you, so open up – share ur feelings and make things happen.

Culinary Institute of America, California branch campus (Greystone)?

Anyone know anything about this school? To employers is it just as prestigious as the school in NY? Is it easier to be admitted to? I am specifically interested in the Baking and Pastry Arts program.

This school is located in the heart of Napa Valley, in St. Helena (2555 Main St, St Helena – (707) 967-1010). I have eaten there many times, used to live right down the street, and am familiar with its reputation. The CIA St. Helena is extremely prestigious. The training is comprehensive and well-regarded.

The admission competition is not as severe for the St. Helena branch as it is for the NYC branch, for the simple fact that NYC has so many concentrated restaurants funnelling students into that school.

Even better — if you are accepted — you will within a 15 mile radius of some of the best restaurants and wineries in the country, and will be able to see your practice in action. You may be familiar with The French Laundry? Silver Oak Vineyards? All these are within 15 minutes of the CIA.

But is it any good in the pastry department? Absolutely. Their chefs focus not only on the basics (creme brulee, cakes), but on pushing the envelope, emphasizing using local produce and ingredients and pairing them with appropriate wines.

It's a wonderful, gorgeous place in a serene setting. You will love it.
